If you’re exploring acupuncture, herbs, or nutritional strategies, it’s important to have open, respectful conversations with your oncology team. Here’s how to approach it with clarity and confidence.

Start with your goal
“I’ve been feeling a lot of fatigue and anxiety. I’d love to explore safe options that could help alongside my treatment.”
Be specific
Instead of “alternative therapies,” name what you’re considering—like guided meditation, reiki, or ginger tea for nausea.
Offer collaboration
Let them know you’re working with a trained integrative provider who respects medical safety.
“Would you be open to sharing notes with my integrative team so we’re aligned?”
Respect boundaries
Some doctors may not have much training in integrative care—but many are open to learning and collaboration when they feel informed and respected.
